I once fed a unicorn some fresh barley meal, I politely asked for a ride, he told me no with quite some zeal

I once plied a salamander for a lovely story, instead he hold me the exact tempature in purgatory

I once met a kraken oceanside, he said come in the waters fine, i said no thank you good kind sir I  have doctors orders against dying

I once petted a dragons head, his scales were quite hot, he said its even warmer in side my mouth, I said I’d rather not

I once asked a sphinx what is the answer to all of life, bemused she replied she didn’t know, so we ate some elderberry pie

I once inquired of a basilisk, sir why are you full of so much poison, he looked me straight in the eye and said, better that than full of sin

I once met a wizard, I told him I wished to be his friend, he responded yes if you know the beginning and the end

I once met a fair lass, she was lovely to behold, I asked her to marry me, she said only if you don’t grow old

There you have it.  What more need be said.

Apparently water and oil do not mix and my the pot I was using had water droplets in it – I had just a few minutes earlier washed it out due the fact I burned my previous batch of popcorn and this was the redemption run. Well give it about a minute of cook time and boiling oil is spitting out of the corner of the lid. At this point I am nervous and slowing backing away. I begin to encourage my wife, who is sitting in the other room waiting for popcorn, that everything is fine but if she wanted to come and help that would be great; I also turned off the heat – thinking that would help. Upon smelling the plume of smoke filling the living room, Kristen immediately perceived the situation and without hesitation opened the porch door and yelled ‘throw it out!’. Assuming she meant the pot, I grabbed a towel, picked up the oil spattering, smoking pot. As soon as I lift it, the oil ran over the side of the lid and contacted the burner below, SETTING THE STOVE ON FIRE.

Well eventually the situation calmed down but here are some pictures measuring the drastic nature of the event.

Yup, there is my popcorn – little, black balls of ash. Smoky and tired I ordered pizza to complete the night.

Here is a basic piece I just did for the fun. The elements I used are a simple color contrast change to make it stand out, I highlighted the water color and Icutted pieces of metal from the top of the faucet to insert over the rust on the spout. Once you know the steps and see the original piece it is easy to see the defects in the edited version. But without the original to compare with, the edited version might as well be the only version.
